Prayagraj magnetic observatory was established in the year 2007 in the campus IIG Research Center, Dr. K. S. Krishnan Geomagnetic Research Laboratory. The main objective of this observatory is to have Indian longitudinal coverage at nearly same latitude of Shillong to understand the longitudinal differences in Sq current system. This also serves as base station for geophysical survey conducted in Himalayan region. Continuous measurement at this observatory are suspended as structure got affected by the adverse weather condition. Efforts are on to rebuilt the magnetometer structural supporting facilities taking care of the extreme climatic conditions.
